Project Overview
Friends of Pittencrieff Park is a volunteer-led organisation dedicated to preserving and enhancing Pittencrieff Park—a historic and much-loved green space in Dunfermline. Their work includes running community gardening projects, organising local events, maintaining park heritage, and raising funds for ongoing improvements.
The group needed a user-friendly, visually inviting website that would help them share their mission, promote events, attract new volunteers, and accept donations—all while showcasing the beauty and history of the park.
The Challenge
-
Outdated online presence that didn’t reflect the vibrancy of the organisation
-
Needed to encourage community participation through event listings and volunteer sign-ups
-
Required an easy-to-manage system so volunteers could update the site without technical expertise
-
Needed to integrate donation functionality to support fundraising efforts
Our Solution
1. Custom WordPress Design
We developed a warm, nature-inspired design that reflects the park’s heritage and community feel. Large imagery showcases the gardens, events, and landmarks, while clear navigation makes it easy for visitors to find information.
2. Event Calendar & Volunteer Sign-Up
The site includes an easy-to-update events calendar and online volunteer registration form, making it simple for the public to get involved.
3. Donation Integration
We set up a secure online donation system to help raise funds for ongoing maintenance and improvement projects.
4. Mobile-First Development
As many park visitors browse on mobile, the site was optimised for fast load speeds and smooth performance across all devices.
5. Easy Content Management
The backend is simple to use, allowing non-technical volunteers to update events, add blog posts, and manage photo galleries without developer assistance.
The Results
-
A welcoming, mobile-friendly website that better reflects the park’s history and community activities
-
Increased volunteer sign-ups and attendance at local events
-
A more streamlined way for the public to make donations online
-
A flexible platform that can grow with the organisation’s needs
